Questions To Ask Your Wedding Photographer
Since it's probably your first time hiring a wedding photographer, it can be challenging to know the right questions to ask. Your wedding photography is a significant investment, so it's wise to take your time to find the right photography company. So here's a list of must-ask questions to help you find the perfect photographer to document your best day ever.
Some of the questions focus on practical matters of policies, logistics and timings. Others are more emotion-driven and designed to give you an idea of what to expect from your photographer in terms of customer service, support and flexibility.
You've probably been swooning over a photographer's dreamy galleries and are in love with their work. In South Florida, Miami and beyond, there are many talented creatives with stunning portfolios. That is always the first thing to draw you in. But you also need to be getting excellent service before, during and after the wedding day.
Even more importantly, you need to like this person. Your wedding photographer is one of the few vendors there for the entire day. So you need to like or, even better, adore this human who will be near your side from getting ready to the ceremony to the celebrations late at night. A video call or in-person meeting is a great way to find out if you connect on that personal level. As a South Florida wedding photographer, I'm always happy to chat.
Always ask to see several full galleries so you can check for quality and consistency throughout the day. It's also a great way to see venues in some of the nice areas for weddings in South Florida, like Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Jupiter.
Then ask the questions below that are relevant or important to you.
How do you describe your style?
Do you offer a discount for specific days or times of the year?
Are you personally there at my wedding?
What happens if you get sick or can't attend my wedding?
How much deposit is needed to secure a date and services, and what are your payment terms?
Do we need to provide meals?
Are there any additional fees? What situations would arise that we would need to pay extra fees for?
Do you have insurance?
What is your policy if I need to change the date or cancel?
What are your policies and procedures relating to Covid?
Do you recommend an engagement or pre-wedding shoot?
Who is on your team?
Do you have a preferred South Florida videography team to work with?
Do you arrive early?
Have you shot at our wedding venue before?
What camera gear do you use?
Can we have unedited images and/or footage?
How long is your editing time?
Do we get a sneak peek after the wedding?
As well as asking your bridal photographer about their services, you can also ask about other wedding-related topics. Misha and the Quality Media Weddings team have a wealth of information about venues, vendors and wedding planning. We are always happy to share the lowdown on who we love to work with, and the venues that shine and give hints on how to make the day go smoother.
Don't be shy to ask as many questions as you want because it's the most important event of your life. If ever there was a moment to go into details, it is now.
